Instead of farming, how about turning the computer off. Grinding it out on a computer out of boredom of a game makes no sense to me.

It still works alright. FoW/UW has always been better though. You can still farm outside Drok's with no problem, though the drops are crap. I heard someone screaming in LA near Gaile that you could still farm Griffons in the S. Shiverpeaks outside of Rankor. Never tried it myself though.
I think farming taking a hit like this is a good thing. Economy will take a hit which is just... well. It's awesome. |

Weapons gained from farming go down in availability = prices up, yes.
Money being throw around goes down as well = less of a demand Less of a demand = lower price Oh no! People will have to make due with imperfect weapons. |

Griffons were never the best place to farm, considering that the griffonfarming classes can solo UW... |

I am very glad they added the scarabs. Now my guildies can't use "I am farming Griffon's" as an excuse.

Nasty little scarabs, I tried a quick run in my lunch break just to see where the scarabs are, but they are right smack in the middle of the Griffo's.

Since the auto-nerf patch, the desert has never been a good place to farm good weapons. It was the perfect bot area to hoard mountains of merchant junk, and to farm cash in a slow but simple and steady fashion. Sure, the occasional gold could be worth keeping, but griffon farmers were mostly newbie/unskilled/ignorant farmers, or bot users.
The desert was a very good influx of cash for the economy. Now that crappy farmers and bots cannot gather gold so easily, uncommon items (greens, ectos...) may become harder to sell in the long run. Selling rare stuff from SF/UW/FoW/Tombs is the best option for skilled farmers if you have a large base of unskilled but rich farmers. Removing one very popular source of junk NPC fodder and cash may strongly affect the middle-range economy (read: not casual players who couldn't afford basic stuff anyway, nor insanely rich players or hardcore farmers). |

Death to Farming!
i think that leaves you with no question over my position on farming issues. Really, if you get upset becuase you cant make as much money out of tedious, unskillful griffon farming, then go play another game, or better still put some of those hours into doing something else. I cant see the point in playing a game for farming, it makes no sense to me. Why on earth would you want to sit through the tedium of farming in order to get 15k, or maybe even FoW that says nothing about you apart from 'i have too much time' or 'I know how to use PayPal' Personally i had to solo farm griffons by trapping, thats where i got a fair bit of cash for 15k armour. Other than trapping in UW (with 2-5 man teams) there is very little rangers can do to farm solo, or in reduced groups. The vast majority of my money came from selling things i had accumulated over time, that I got from missions etc, and not from farming. Mesmers have it worse, and necros dont have a good situacion either. Elementalists to, have also been unable to farm as effectively since they nerfed aoe. Thats is why it gets my goat when people complain when they can no longer gain a frankly unfair advantage from their choice of proffesion. I think if you want to make money it should be done in teams, with other people, possible doing quests or missions. Its far less boring than killing for moneys sake, and although it may take longer, things you enjoy tend to fly by, things that are boring just seem to take for ever, so there is a psychological aspect as well. I salute ANET therefore for taking griffon farming out of the picture, despite the fact that it was my main source of income from a farming point of view. I could do UW, but I have had nothing but bad luck (save a very lucky break which allowed me to obtain spider) I went down 15-20 times, and never saw an ecto. I also decided to stop because I want to PLAY gw, and not do it because it is a chore. Some people like grinding, personally I think they need a full frontal lobotomy, but that???s just my opinion. While they nerf griffon farming, lets put in chilblains to piss of those 55hp monks as well. Who cares if those poor 55hp monks lose a substantial source of gold that other professions never had. If the professions are equal in pvp, then doesn???t it make sense to make them equal in pve? Right, I have finished ranting. I am primarily a pvp player, so these things don???t concern me much. However. When factions arrives I intend to go back to PvE, until it gets boring, so these things may start to matter more to me. |

I think the introduction of green weapons had a larger inpact on the economy for gold items (other than upgrades) or rare skins that you didnt find in the desert anyway. Chest running in FoW seems popular these days with groups of warriors, but it takes patience and lots of keys before you get anything worth finding. I forsee an increase in chest running due to this update.

Griffon farming outside Destiny's Gorge is easily as effective (and sometimes more so) than Augury Farming. The number of griffons you can reach quickly is spawn-dependant and Rockshot Devourers can come in groups of 3-5 sometimes but otherwise there are no problems.
You can easily find groups of 4-5 griffons close to each other, similar to Prophet's Path. If you get a good spawn, the run is much shorter. |

At the beginning of the kryta mission theres a house to the left. If you go behind it and kill the hellhound a bunch of monsters appear. If first you run up to the top of the small hill where the ascalon farmers are running away from the baddies it triggers more monsters behind the house to appear when you go down there. It's turns out like 700g in a couple minutes if you do it fast and sell to the merchant.
